Now that Halloween is over, can we move to Christmas celebration? The festive season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate Christmas than by raising a glass of delightful Kahlúa cocktails? As bartenders and mixologists, we have the privilege of infusing the holiday spirit into every drink we serve. Kahlúa, the iconic coffee liqueur, offers a world of flavors to explore. So, let's make this Christmas memorable with some fabulous Kahlúa cocktails and recipes that will warm hearts and create lasting memories.

Gingerbread white Russian

Gingerbread cookies are a Christmas classic, and when paired with Kahlúa and Absolut, you get a cocktail that exudes holiday charm. Here's how to craft a Gingerbread white Russian:

Ice cubes
30 ml Kahlúa
30 ml Absolut vodka
15 ml gingerbread syrup
45 ml milk or cream
1 whole gingerbread cookie or cinnamon stick

1. Fill a glass with ice.
2. Add the Kahlúa coffee liqueur, vodka and gingerbread syrup.
3. Top with a layer of milk or cream.
4. Garnish with a small gingerbread cookie, or cinnamon stick.
Tip: If you can’t find gingerbread syrup, try replacing the syrup and the milk with gingerbread coffee cream.

Peppermint Espresso Martini

When you think of Christmas, peppermint is a flavor that instantly comes to mind. Combine the cool and invigorating essence of peppermint with the rich coffee notes of Kahlúa to create a holiday masterpiece:

Ice cubes
30 ml Kahlúa
30 ml Absolut vodka
30 ml hot espresso or cold brew
15 ml crème de menthe, white
1 handful crushed candy canes
3 whole coffee bean

1. Garnish the rim of a martini glass with crushed peppermint (candy canes).
2. Add the Kahlúa coffee liqueur, vodka, coffee and crème de menthe into a shaker with ice.
3. Shake for 15 - 20 seconds and strain into a glass.
4. Garnish with 3 coffee beans for luck.

The perfect solution to all those leftover candy canes, this Espresso Martini gives a hint of sweet mint to your favorite coffee cocktail.

Kahlúa Coffee Fudge Brownies

190g sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
150g butter
100g unsweetened chocolate
3 large eggs
400g brown sugar
80ml Kahlúa
100g chopped walnuts or pecans

For 24 brownies, prep time: 15 min, cook time: 30 min
Best to refrigerated at least 1h before serving
1. Grease a squared pan well with butter.
2. Preheat oven 350°F / 180°C.
3. In a bowl, mix flour with baking powder and salt.
4. In a separate bowl, beat eggs with sugar until light and incorporate into the flour mixture.
5. In a saucepan, melt butter with chocolate over low heat.
6. Add chocolate mixture to the bowl with Kahlúa; blend well.
7. Stir in nuts.
8. Turn into prepared pan and bake for 30mins or until top springs back when touched lightly in center, and edges begin to pull away from pan.
9. Remove from oven, cool thoroughly in pan for at least 1 hour.
10. Brush with 1 tbsp of Kahlúa.
11. Cut into bars.
12. Garnish with crumbled nuts if desired.
