Cognac Day is celebrated on June 4th to honour the rich history of this luxurious French brandy whose origins date back to the 16th century when Dutch traders distilled local wines into "brandwijn" to preserve them for long sea voyages. The double distillation process, refined in the 17th century, and ageing in oak casks gave cognac its distinctive flavour and elegance. Today, cognac is renowned worldwide for its sophistication and craftsmanship.
