Jean Trinh has been in hospitality since he was a young boy. He moved from Paris to Cartagena de Indias at the end of 2013 where he opened his first pop-up bar. Enriched from this experience, he opened Alquimico in Cartagena in 2016, which operates today with a team of 80 people - all led by Jean.
In 2018, Alquímico invested in a farm in El Eje Cafetero, and later a sustainable agriculture project with his team, bringing the bar to the farm.
Alquímico has been recognized as Best International Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Bar at Tales Of The Cocktail, and in 2025 placed 11 in World’s 50 Best Bars.
