The exact origins of the Sidecar are not known but most believe it was created shortly after World War One. 2 Martell VS 1 Part Lemon Juice 1 Part Triple Sec Glass: Cocktail Sugar Rim 1. Measure Cognac and triple sec into a shaker. 2. Freshly squeeze lemon juice into the shaker. 3. Take a chilled cocktail glass. 4. Rim with a slice of lemon. 5. Place the glass upside down into a bowl of caster sugar. 6. The rim of the glass should have a smooth coating of sugar. 7. Fill the shaker with a scoop of ice and shake well. 8. Double strain into the glass, be careful to not spoil the rim.
