ABSOLUT

History

Established in 1879, Absolut Vodka traces its roots to founder Lars Olsson Smith and his pursuit of creating an exceptionally pure vodka. Born and produced in the small village of Åhus, Sweden, Absolut made its international debut a century later in New York in 1979.

The 1980s marked Absolut’s rise to global fame through the “Absolut X” campaign, which showcased its distinctive bottle in imaginative and artistic contexts, transforming it into a true symbol of pop culture. Collaborations with artists such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring further elevated its cultural status, while bartenders like Toby Cecchini used Absolut to invent the Cosmopolitan, created at The Odeon in New York in the late 1980s using Absolut Citron as its base.

 

Absolut also pioneered new ways of engaging with bartenders, founding not only the first modern cocktail competition but also the Absolut Bartenders Club in the early 1990s. The club connected bartenders between London and New York to foster creativity, collaboration, and craftsmanship.

In 2008, Absolut entered a new era under Pernod Ricard’s ownership, reinforcing its legacy as a global symbol of quality, creativity, and Swedish craftsmanship, and a beloved and iconic vodka brand with a storied history of innovation and cultural impact.

• 20 ml Italian aperitif Bianco

• Stir till cold

• Pour into a chilled martini glass
