Did you know "Paloma" means "dove" in Spanish? While any tequilero can whip up a mean margarita, Mexicans know the real star of the show is the Paloma. The origins of the Paloma are believed (though, not confirmed) to be originated from La Capilla (Spanish for "The Chapel") and first crafted by the legendary Don Javier Delgado.
This drink has won hearts all over the world so, let's raise our glasses and toast to World Paloma Day with this zesty, refreshing cocktail:
Ingredients:
60 ml Altos Plata
60 ml Pink Grapefruit Juice
30 ml Lemon Juice
15 ml Agave Syrup
Optional garnishes: Lime wheel, pink grapefruit, and salt
Frost your glass rim with salt by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it in salt. Mix the tequila, lime/lemon juice, and sweetener. Add ice and top with grapefruit juice or soda. Garnish with a lime or grapefruit slice.
Looking for a twist? If you’re feeling bold, try this reSIPe with a zesty kick:
🍓🫚 Strawberry Ginger Paloma
1 cup grapefruit juice
2 tbsp ginger beer
1 oz Altos Plata Tequila
Fresh strawberries cut into 3 pieces
Combine grapefruit juice, ginger beer, and @Altostequila in a bowl. Add strawberries and let sit for 5 minutes. Muddle the strawberries to release their flavours, strain into an ice-filled glass, sip, and enjoy!
Cheers to the Paloma!
